EXCLUSIVE: Justin Lin’s Perfect Storm Entertainment have acquired World Rally Vice Champion Michèle Mouton’s life rights with plans to develop a biopic on her. Mouton’s life story caught the attention of Perfect Strom following the release of Drum Studio’s documentary The Queen of Speed, which won the International Emmy for Best Sports Documentary in 2022.

The project follows the the incredible story of one woman’s rise to the top of the male-dominated world of rallying in the 70’s and 80’s. She made history by winning four FIA World Rally Championship races, cementing her reputation as one of the greatest motorsport drivers of all time and still to this day the only woman to have ever won a World Rally Championship race.

Producers on the project include Perfect Storm Entertainment’s Justin Lin, Andrew Schneider, and Sal Gatdula and for Drum Studios, Global Chief Production Officer Andy Holland and MD Jessica Sinclair. Mouton and her daughter, Jessie Johnsson-Lüthy, will serve as Executive Producers on the project.

Perfect Storm is repped by CAA and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern. Mouton is repped by Jessie Johnsson-Lüthy. Drum Studios is repped by Marc Kamler at Innovative Artists and legal is with Peter McInerney at Sheridans.

They are also producing ABACUS with Participant Media based on the Steve James-directed documentary, Abacus: Small Enough to Jail, and the adaptation of the Manga classic One Punch Man for Sony.

On the TV side, they will produce the action-adventure series Seven Wonders starring Simu Liu for Amazon Prime, and The Islands for Peacock, written by Kaz and Ryan Firpo, with Steven Yeun attached. Additionally, they will produce Infinite Thread, and the Untitled Joshua Troke Project for Universal Television.
