‘Butterfly’ TV Series Adds Louis Landau To Cast

EXCLUSIVE: Louis Landau (Rivals) has been tapped for a series regular role in Prime Video‘s spy thriller Butterfly, exec produced by and starring Daniel Dae Kim, an adaptation of Arash Amel’s graphic novel series for BOOM! Studios.

The London-based actor plays Oliver, a smart, cunning intelligence operative. Oliver was raised in the deadly world of international espionage and has the drive and desire to succeed and earn the validation of his dominant, withholding mother, who happens to be his boss. But he has a weak streak and a bit of the softness that sometimes comes with a privileged upbringing.

Others joining Kim in the ensemble include Reina Hardesty, Piper Perapo, Park Hae-Soo, Kim Tae-hee, and Nayoon Kim.

Co-created by Ken Woodruff (The Mentalist, Gotham) and novelist Steph Cha, Butterfly explores complex family dynamics within the treacherous world of global espionage. The show centers on David Jung (Kim), an enigmatic, highly unpredictable former U.S. intelligence operative living in South Korea, whose life is blown to pieces when the consequences of an impossible decision from his past come back to haunt him, and he finds himself pursued by Rebecca (Hardesty), a deadly, sociopathic young agent assigned to kill him.

Woodruff also serves as showrunner and exec produces alongside Cha; Kim and John Cheng for 3AD; Stephen Christy and Ross Richie for BOOM! Studios; and Amel for The Amel Company. Additionally, Adam Yoelin serves as Co-EP for BOOM! Studios. Kim’s 3AD developed the series under its first-look deal with Amazon MGM Studios.

Previously, Landau has been seen in Starz’s period drama The Serpent Queen, as well as the 2022 romantic drama Surprised by Oxford. A recent graduate of the prestigious Guildhall School of Music & Drama, he’ll next be seen opposite David Tennant and Aidan Turner on the series Rivals for Disney+. The thesp is repped by Untitled Entertainment, Scott Marshall Partners in the UK, and Myman Greenspan Fox.
