Meaning of this Festival
Hanuman is closely related to Lord Ram. It is believed that if one wants to receive Lord Ram’s blessings, one must first devote oneself to Hanuman who is said to be Lord Ram’s greatest admirer. In the Ramayana, Hanuman helps Lord Ram with Vanar Sena’s army in the battle against Ravan.
Hanuman is also known as the avatar of Lord Shiva. This is because before his birth, his parents Anjana and Caesar sat in devotion and contrition to Lord Shiva. In the end Lord Shiva was satisfied with his prayer and Hanuman was born.
On the day of Hanuman Jayanti, idols of Hanuman are worshiped. Worshipers go to temples, chant verses from Hanuman Chalisa, and participate in aarti, which is also accompanied by mantras and chants. The devotees worship Hanuman to expel evil from their lives and be blessed with power.
